Frequently Asked Questions

Who qualifies for the NC Medication Aide program?+

You must hold an active NC (North Carolina) CNA-1 certification on the North Carolina Nurse Aide Registry (NCNAR), have a high school diploma or GED. Your CNA-1 certificate and diploma/GED must be submitted and verified before course access is granted.

What is included in the online NC Med-Aide portal?+

The NC Medication Aide portal includes comprehensive interactive course content covering all required units, knowledge assessments, and skills preparation tools. Upon successful completion of all program requirements, students receive two Certificates of Completion: the NC State Mandatory Completion Certificate and the Kambiar Healthcare Academy™ Certificate of Completion, both signed by Keona Banks-Todd, BSN, RN — NC Licensed Medication Aide Instructor.

Do I need to attend in-person for the skills check-offs?+

Yes. The 13 mandatory skills check-offs per Appendix D of the NC Medication Aide curriculum must be physically demonstrated to and verified by Keona Banks-Todd, BSN, RN in person. The online cartoon walkthroughs are for preparation only — they do not replace in-person verification.

How many times can I retake the final exam?+

The final exam has a maximum of 2 retakes. If you do not pass after 2 attempts, please contact your instructor at info@kambiarhealthcareacademy.com to discuss remediation options and next steps before any additional attempt.

What happens after I complete the NC Medication Aide program?+

After completing all coursework, skills check-offs, and passing the final exam, you will receive a Certificate of Completion. You can then apply to the NC Medication Aide Registry through NC (North Carolina) DHHS. The state competency examination is administered by Credentia. Visit credentia.com to schedule. Kambiar Healthcare Academy does not charge a fee to assist with reciprocity applications.

Is there a refund if I can't complete the course?+

All payments are final and non-refundable once course access has been granted. Students who do not meet eligibility requirements will receive a full refund before access is granted.

For CPR classes, you may reschedule with 24-hour notice. For NC Med-Aide In-Person sessions, you may reschedule to the next available date. If scheduling conflicts arise, students enrolled in the In-Person program also have the option to transfer to the FLEX Virtual online course for more flexibility — contact us to discuss your options.

How do I renew my NC Medication Aide certification?+

NC Medication Aide certification must be renewed every 2 years (biennially). To renew, you must have actively worked as a Medication Aide during the renewal period.
